The funds were collected during the Christmas charity exhibition organized by the team of the new IVF center in the country and the kind assistance of District \“South\“ of Plovdiv Municipality.
The newest IVF center in the country – “New Life\“ – donated one procedure of a couple with fertility problems to the \“Conception\“ Association. The funds were collected at the Christmas charity exhibition organized today at the children\’s center of Mall \“Gallery\“ in Plovdiv. The check will be donated on Grandmother\’s Day, January 21, 2015, when the country celebrates the Day of maternal care. The lucky ones will be determined by a draw.
The charity campaign was organized with the support of District \“South\“ of Plovdiv Municipality and the mayor Valentin Vassilev. In December the team of \“New Life\“ announced among children from kindergartens in the area a children\’s drawing contest with theme \“My family\“. Over 150 works were submitted to the center for the noble cause.
The children\’s center in the mall was full with kids, their parents and grandparents who were there for the Christmas party.The young artists whose paintings were already put up in a special exhibition, eagerly looked for their drawings in order to be photographed in front of them like true artists.
\“Thank you for being here with us, our idea is to help more people to hear the words ,\“ Mom, I love you! \“, started the opening speech of the manager of\“ New Life \“ – Dr. Dobrinka Petrova. – Our job is not only a matter of love and professionalism, but also a public mission. \“
Once the children discovered their drawings, they eagerly started waiting for Santa Claus. \“Santa Claus! Santa Claus! \“ was heard everywhere and the good old man immediately responded – he came to the kids with slow steps and in hand with Snow White. Kids surrounded him and began telling him how they painted for the competition \“My family\“ , about their brothers and sisters, and also recited poems and sang songs. All kids received from Santa Claus and Snow White a sketchbook and markers with a wish to develop their talent as artists, and also many sweets. Then the kids rushed to play with the toys in the children\’s playground.

At the same time parents were looking at the drawings and bid for the best works, and the charming employees of the center Danny and Maggie could barely write off the sold works. When the work finished, and Father Christmas brought joy to every child, the hosts of \“New Life\“ gave the kids a huge white cake, lit by fireworks.
Great celebration, the children are so happy – they met Santa, received gifts and most importantly their talent was appreciated, thanked the parents and asked when will the next celebration be.

With the help of a draw the financial aid, raised during a charity concert organized by Dr Hristo Adjarov Centre in Plovdiv, will be allocated to help couples with fertility problems. Vera Vuldjeva, the regional coordinator of I WANT A BABY Foundation, announced that the draw will be held on December 21. In the fundraising campaign, which goal is to help patients have children, participated the latest IVF center in the country – „New Life“. Through I WANT A BABY Foundation, the management of the clinic donated two procedures – donor insemination and partner insemination. The charity event took place in „Bulgaria“ Hall of the Congress Center in the International Fair and was attended by the gynecologist and director of the „New Life“ Dr. Dobrinka Petrova. The concert featured Women\’s Choir „Trimontium“, Male choir „Stefka Blagoeva“, Preparatory Choir of Plovdiv boys, Dance ensemble „Iglika“ and dance club „Siana Dance“. They sang and danced in front of a huge audience, which has led the organizers to expect that more than 10,000 BGN would be raised – these funds would be donated to the I WANT A BABY Foundation and would be used for patients from Plovdiv. The exact amount will be known mid-December, said Vuldjeva.

IVF center „New Life“ signed a contract with the Fund for Assisted Reproduction, Department of Health, said the medical manager Dr Dobrinka Petrova. Couples with problems in our country now have another opportunity to successfully solve a health problem by obtaining highly specialized and professional support of our team, she stressed.
From Monday – November 3, all who wish to take advantage of the opportunities the Fund gives can contact \“New Life\“. Applications must be prepared by the in vitro center. The fund finances up to 3 attempts at in vitro fertilization for a couple with up to 5,000 BGN per attempt. Those who do not know whether they meet the criteria can schedule a consultation with the specialists at the clinic who will explain and give instructions for completing the forms. Those who have already submitted documents to the Fund but  are not yet patients of \“New Life\“, can also contact the doctors for assistance.

Prof. Laufer, how you summarize the \“Health situation\“ after the team of \“New Life\“ consulted such a serious number of couples with fertility problems?

– What I saw as a trend, it is the age of the couples who came to us. In Bulgaria, as in Europe, young women are involved in creating of career and their profession. So they postpone having children. As a result we have reduced success rate of assisted reproductive procedures.
Presenting this picture, we can say that the ratio between women and men with fertility problems is equal.
– What the team of \“New Life\“ and you can advise those couples?
– I will Advise women not to delay. The possibility of pregnancy becomes smaller after each year. They must clearly realize the consequences of this delay. Again I repeat – IVF is a great opportunity, but should not be postponed – the success of the process highly depends on the age.
– Do you think that there is a difference in what you see here, and in Israel? And if there is – what is it?
– The difference is that the couples in Israel seek specialist help and come much faster once they understand that they have a problem – within a year, year and a half after unsuccessful attempts. And here – couples are seeking advice and assistance aftert 4-5 years, which is too much. But this is the moment to say something important for me while I was with the team of \“New Life\“ – it was a great pleasure to work with the bulgarian patients. It felt like

IVF is a wonderful opportunity, but should not be delayed in time – it is directly dependent on the age of the woman, said the professor, with 40 years of experience in highly specialized care for around 10,000 babies to be born. Prof. Laufer said that every woman in Israel after 35 years of age is redirected to IVF.

The Demographic problem that is general for Western Europe – the emancipation of women in the direction of professional development and career and the postponement of the birth of the first child are among the factors for reproductive problems, said the specialist. This delay is now between 5 and 7 years – before the average age for having a first child was 25-26 years , today it is 32 years, even up to 40. Another factor that leads to reproductive problems is improving living standards – more people believe that before they give birth to a child they must create the necessary conditions – therefore, having a child is delayed in the future.
In response to a journalist\’s question, prof. Neri Laufer noted that the upper age limit for IVF is 45 years, in England – it is 43. Regarding surrogacy, prof Laufer said that Israel’s eligibility procedure is extremely precise and transparent – after investigation of the physical and psychological characteristics of the surrogate mother – she proceeds for approval before a special committee at the health ministry.
IVF process is not so long, but there are certain steps that must be followed – people, however, have to know that success critically depends on the age. With couples up to 40 years of age – the percentage of success rate is 50, over 40 years is 15-20%, and over 45 – very small, pointed out prof. Laufer.
