Common Causes
Infertility is the inability to conceive a child. A couple is considered infertile if, following 1 year of regular sexual intercourse,
without contraception, the woman has not become pregnant.
If the female partner is over 35 years of age, the couple is considered infertile if following 6 months of regular sexual intercourse, without contraception, the female partner has not become pregnant.
This is due to the fact that a rapid and significant decrease in fertility is observed in women after the age of 35.
In general, Female Factor Infertility is the underlying cause of infertility in about 40% of couples, Male Factor Infertility is the cause in another 40% of couples and unexplained infertility or both Female and Male factor infertility is the cause in the remaining 20% of couples.
