Hormonal Tests
If there is a deviation in semen parameters and upon referral from the treating urologist/andrologist, hormonal test are made in order to try to elucidate the underlying cause of the infertility. The three main hormones that control spermatogenesis are:
- Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
- Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
and
- Testosterone.
Other hormones, secreted by the hypothalamus, anterior pituitary and the adrenal glands are also often tested for.
